Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Mandarin) consists of 9 modules.
Course Outline
- Outline for Fundamentals of Early Childhood EducationThis module aims to examine the historical and current beliefs, attitudes and practices about teaching and learning and the role of the teacher in the early childhood education. Students will be required to engage in critical reflections about their personal values, its stated purpose and the knowledge that informs their pedagogy and practices.
- Outline for Human Growth and Development of Young ChildrenThis module aims to introduce students to the process of child development in detail. Students will study the human journey from infancy to middle childhood and the critical issues accompanying each stage in this journey.
- Outline for Understand Children’s Play and DevelopmentThis module aims to explore and extend the power of play in children’s learning. Through theoretical perspectives, analysing the different genres of play and understanding the inclusion of play in the curriculum, students will gain an insight into the importance of play in the children’s development milestones.
- Outline for Promoting Positive BehavioursThis module aims to develop awareness and increase students’ knowledge of the various child guidance strategies that they can adopt in addressing typical behavioural challenges.
- Outline for Conducive Environment for Young ChildrenThis module aims to cover the setup of both physical and social learning environment to create a place for conducive learning and development.
- Outline for Social and Emotional DevelopmentThis module aims to equip students with the social constructivist approaches in helping children develop a positive sense of themselves in relation to their peers, family and the community.
- Outline for Language and LiteracyThis module aims to introduce children to different languages and the importance of listening, speaking, reading and writing in the early childhood language arts program.
- Outline for Motor Skills DevelopmentThis module aims to equip students with the social constructivist approaches in facilitating children’s development of motor skills to full advantage.
- Outline for Safety, Health, Hygiene and NutritionThis module aims to help students develop the knowledge and skills to plan, provide and maintain a safe, healthy and hygienic environment for children.

Duration
9 months Institutional Training
Maximum allowed period for a student to complete the course is 18 months
Maximum Candidature Period
Student is not allowed to retake the course and/or request for a refund in the event if he/she fails to complete the programme within the maximum candidature period.
