Programme Introduction
To cover all key elements of the curriculum in a year, the Cambridge International Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced Level (Intensive) is an intensive course taken after the completion of the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). This course is ideally designed for international students who are ready for an accelerated and rigorous advanced study to prepare for university and higher education.
The curriculum of this course aims to enhance the learners’ knowledge, understanding and skills in in-depth subject content, independent thinking, handling and evaluating different types of information source, thinking logically and presenting ordered and coherent arguments, making judgements, recommendations and decisions, as well as presenting reasoned explanations, understanding implications and communicating them clearly and logically. In addition, this course comprises General Paper, Mathematics, IELTS Lesson, Physics, Chemistry, Accounting, Business, Economics, Biology, Further Mathematics and Computer Science.
At the end of the one year, students will be fully prepared to sit for the Cambridge International AS and A Level Examinations. Widely recognised, these qualifications heighten the students’ chances of seeking admission to leading universities both locally and globally.

Objective
The objective of this accelerated and intensive course is to equip students with a better overview and understanding of the core subjects of Cambridge International AS and A Level Examinations which include General Paper, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry to prepare them for the Cambridge International AS and A Level Examinations.

- Outline for General Paper (AS Level)
The Cambridge International AS Level General Paper encourages learners to develop a maturity of critical thought and argument, and a mastery of expression in the English Language. These are all skills of great use for university level study.
- Outline for Mathematics
The Cambridge International AS and A Level Mathematics builds on the skills acquired at Cambridge IGCSE Level. The syllabus allows teachers to choose from three different routes to Cambridge International Mathematics: Pure Mathematics only, Pure Mathematics and Mechanics or Pure Mathematics and Probability and Statistics.
- Outline for IELTS Lesson
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is used to assess the English Language proficiency of non-native English speakers. The IELTS Test has four test ‘modules’ to test each skill, namely Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The academic IELTS test is mainly used to test the English of students who want to go for higher education courses at colleges or Universities in a country where English is spoken as a first language.

The Cambridge International AS and A Level Physics builds on the skills acquired at Cambridge IGCSE Level. The syllabus includes the main theoretical concepts which are fundamental to the subject, a section on some current applications of physics and a strong emphasis on advanced practical skills. Practical skills are assesses in a timetables practical examination.The emphasis throughout is on the understanding of concepts and the application of physics ideas in novel contexts as well as acquisition of knowledge. The course encourages creative thinking and problem solving skills which are transferable to any future career path.

The syllabus includes the main theoretical concepts which are fundamental to the subject, a section on some current applications of chemistry and a strong emphasis on advanced practical skills. The Cambridge International AS and A Level Accounting syllabus enables learners to apply their accounting knowledge and understanding in order to analyse and present information, give reasoned explanations and make judgement and recommendations. The syllabus covers topics such as recording of financial information, accounting principles and control systems and the preparation of final accounts for a variety of different organisations and businesses.Learners find out about raising capital by shares and loans, ratio analysis and cost accounting and also the study the preparations of cash flow statements, cash flow analysis and standard costing and investment appraisal among many other topics.

The Cambridge International AS and A Level Business enables learners to understand and appreciate the nature and scope of business and the role it plays in society. The syllabus covers economic, environmental, ethical, governmental, legal, social and technological issues and encourages a critical understanding of organisations, the markets they serve and the process of adding value. Learners examine the management of organisations and in particular the process of decision making in a dynamic external environment.
- Outline for Economics
Through the Cambridge International AS and A Level Economics syllabus, learners study how to explain and analyse economic issues and arguments, evaluate economic information and organise, present and communicate ideas and judgements clearly.The syllabus covers a range of basic economic ideas, including an introduction to the price system and government intervention, international trade and exchange rates, the measurement of employment and inflation and the causes and consequences of inflation. Learners also study the price system, the theory of the firm, market failure, macroeconomic theory and policy and economic growth and development.

Cambridge International AS and A Level Biology builds on the skills acquired at Cambridge IGCSE (or equivalent) level. The syllabus includes the main theoretical concepts which are fundamental to the subject, a section on some current applications of biology, and a strong emphasis on advanced practical skills. Cambridge International AS and A Level Biology is ideal for learners who want to study biology or a wide variety of related subjects at university or to follow a career in science.
- Outline for Further Mathematics
Cambridge International AS and A Level Further Mathematics develops a set of transferable skills. These include the skill of working with mathematical information, as well as the ability to think logically and independently, consider accuracy, model situations mathematically, analyse results and reflect on findings. Learners can apply these skills across a wide range of subjects and the skills equip them well for progression to higher education or directly into employment. Learners will find that the additional time spent studying this subject will support their understanding of A Level Mathematics.

Assessment Grading Criteria
Internal: The Cambridge Advanced (Intensive) Examination is set by DIMENSIONS and marked according to the Cambridge A Levels Grading System.
External: The Cambridge International Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced Level Examinations at the end of one year are set and marked by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) based on the Cambridge International Examinations Specifications.

Note 1: | International Student must achieve at least 90% attendance rate (ICA Requirement). |
Note 2: | International Student must not be absent for more than 7 consecutive days without valid reason (ICA Requirement). |
Note 3: | Students who do not require ICA’s student’s pass must achieve at least 80% attendance rate.Our College only accept medical certificates as proof for absenteeism. Any other documents should only be accepted on a case-by-case basis with full justification and be acceptable by ICA. |
Note 4: | In the first week of studies, an induction session will be conducted. The students will be briefed by the Academic Staff on full details of the course including scheme of work, timetable, assessments and grading, assessment and exam dates and venue and many other academic matters. |
