On 22 March, DIMENSIONS celebrated World Water Day—a United Nations organised holiday to cooperate on water and create positive ripple effects. We used this day to get our students to reflect on the importance of water and its conservation.
While water is a finite resource, and Singapore is a land that does not have its own natural source of water, which means we must depend on other countries to buy water from. Thus, we have to practise water conservation to cultivate the habit into our daily lives. The UN encourages everyone to use this day as an opportunity to celebrate world peace and come together in our efforts for water conservation. Besides saving human lives, using less water also means that there is more available in the ecosystem to provide for animals and their habitats.
There are endless reasons why water is essential to our planet, which is why we must do everything we can to use it responsibly. Let us be more mindful of our usage and wastage of water in our daily lives!
