News & Announcements

Congratulations to our bright young minds for placing in the top spots of the International Mathematical Olympiad! Our Primary-level students have performed exceptionally well and have done DIMENSIONS proud. Special mentions go to Deshmukh Tanvi, Phone Wati Maung Maung, Kannan Vithan, and Muthusamy of Primary 1 who clinched the 1st place internationally in the competition. Nalk Aarush, Villar Mason Riley Chiu, Athithan, Sivanathan Isaiko, Arun Ishaan, and Han Tun Naing of Primary 1, Chitzakumar Cuhan of Primary 2, and Swamy Royansh Taakhvik of Primary 3 also deserve high praise for placing top 10 internationally.

This was no easy feat, as the Internation Mathematical Olympiadan annual World Championship Mathematics Competition hosted by the Science Olympiad Foundationis well known to be one of the most prestigious mathematical championships in the world. The competition is fierce too with around 100 participating countries. Questions can cover algebraic inequalities, construction-oriented geometrical problems, and sometimes even branches of mathematics not conventionally covered at a secondary or university level. The solutions are often elementary but are disguised as difficult, and therefore require a level of knowledge and ingenuity to solve. Not only that, but calculators are also not allowed in the tests, upping the difficulty level once more.

Our warmest congratulations once again to our young winners, and we hope that this experience will allow their love for mathematics to continue to grow and flourish.
