This year our Bukit Timah campus organised an interclub competition for the Chess Club, aimed at the primary four to primary six students. The aim of the competition was to put our students’ chess skills to the test, encourage their competitive spirit, and have a fun time all at once. The chess club members put on their game faces and battled it out on the chess board. Eventually, these students below won the top prizes.

1st Prize: SHANKAR VINU HARSITH

2nd Prize: PATHURI SAMEEKSHA

The school would like to thank Ms Namita for her constant guidance and continuous support towards the Chess Club! You have helped the members appreciate the game of chess so much more.

Chess is a great way to help students develop their critical thinking skills, cognitive abilities like memory, planning, and problem solving, and be more empathetic towards others. It also develops the ability to adopt another person’s perspective and infer what action they are likely to take—which is essential in exercising empathy and building healthy social relationships.
