Our Corporate Advisor: Mr. Tan Boon Huat

After a career of 36 years in the Singapore Administrative Service, Mr Tan Boon Huat (陈文发) currently serves as an Independent Director on the Board of Keppel Telecommunications and Transportation, Senior Advisor to SAS Institute Singapore, and chairs three government appeals boards – Films, Sports and Estate Agents.

 

From 1974 to 1990, Mr Tan held various appointments within the civil service, including Director (Administration) of the People’s Association in 1978, Deputy Director (Establishment & Discipline) of the Public Service Commission in 1982, Director (Personnel Development) in the Ministry of Finance in 1983 and Director of the Civil Service College in 1985.

 

From 1990 to 1996, Mr. Tan was a Deputy Secretary, Public Service Division in the Ministry of Finance and subsequently the Prime Minister’s Office, where his responsibilities included overseeing and developing public service recruitment, development, and remuneration policies. Between 1996 and 2002, Mr Tan served as Deputy Secretary in the Home Affairs Ministry. In late 2002, Mr Tan was seconded to the People’s Association as its Chief Executive Director, where he introduced business analytics to improve customer service and widen community outreach, and modernised its operations.

 

He completed his pre-university education at Raffles Institution and later graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Forestry (Class 1 Honours standing) in 1974. Mr Tan also obtained a Master of Science (With Distinction) in Management Science from the Imperial College of the University of London in 1980. He attended the Harvard Advanced Management Programme in 1996.

 

Mr. Tan joined DIMENSIONS International College as the Corporate Advisor in December 2011.
