News & Announcements

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, there is always room for improving your presentation skills. One way to prepare for a presentation is to define what you’re most worried about and address these concerns. If you are uncertain about which aspects to address first, we have some tips to aid you in your presentations!

Practice

As the saying goes, practice makes perfect. The more confident you are, the smoother the presentation will go. You can rehearse in front of your friends or family to get familiar with presenting in front of people.

Declutter your slides

Make your slides visually appealing by adding minimal words and images to illustrate your points. Too much information will confuse your audience or even lose their attention. If you do need to add more information to your slides, summarise it into bullet points.

Actively engage your audience (make eye contact)

To command the attention of your audience, you need to engage them. One easy way is to make eye contact with the whole room. Ensure they are actively listening by meeting their eyes as you present. You could also ask your audience questions or get them to think about something. This will make your presentation a lot more interesting, which is something your audience will appreciate.

Adjust to your surroundings

Once you practise and are familiar with your presentation, you can tailor it to your audience. You can gauge from their facial expressions how they are feeling about it. It is important to observe and be alert in that regard.

Attend other presentations

To get better at presenting, you should watch other better presenters on how they perfected their craft. There is always something to learn by observing others share their information and engage their audience. Take notes and try to implement what you learnt in your next presentation.
