Programme Introduction
Laying a solid foundation for young learners, the Primary school years are a cardinal phase to help them obtain the knowledge and skills they need to excel in this modern society. Designed for International Students based on the Cambridge Primary curriculum frameworks, the Cambridge Primary course is a constitution of six (6) different programmes which will be conducted over a span of six (6) years.
As it is fundamental to guide and support young learners through their early educational process, this course aims to develop and hone learners’ English literacy, Mathematics numeracy and Science reasoning abilities to a substantial degree through the core academic subjects – English, Mathematics, and Science. Along with these subjects, the following subjects, namely, Art, Physical Education, ICT, STEM, Music and Social Studies will be integrated into the CAIE Primary curriculum. Students also have to choose one (1) of seven (7) optional language subjects (Chinese, Malay, Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Tagalog, and French).
These subject areas provide learners with a good grounding in different fields of study and subsequently, they will be able to use this pool of knowledge across multiple contexts. Upon completion, learners will be well-equipped with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills for progression to the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Lower Secondary with Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint.

This subject enables learners to communicate effectively in English. This subject focuses on development of skills in speaking, reading, writing and listening. Learners will build up knowledge and understanding of basic English grammar and common vocabularies at different stages and levels of learning.

This subject explores 5 content areas: number, geometry, measure, handling data and problem solving. This curriculum focuses on basic principles, patterns, systems, functions and relationships so that learners can apply mathematical knowledge and develop a holistic understanding at lower primary level. It is intended to develop the skills and the ability to perform estimation and to check reasonableness of results.

Students will learn to identify simple visual qualities in what they see around them and be curious about what they see. They will learn to share their imagination, thoughts and feelings through art making using selected art materials and media. They will also enjoy looking at and creating art, at the same time talk about what they see and experience.

Knowing Myself, Others and My Surroundings. In this subject, students will learn about themselves, people around them and their immediate environment. They will explore who they are in relation to the people and places around them. Through examining the different roles they play, they will also understand how their actions can affect the people and places around them. They will be able to understand that differences in people occur due to differences in cultures and traditions among people, thus assisting them to work together as a group and in their team collaborations.

This subject aims to help students to appreciate the significance and advantages of physical activities through games and sports. Though students’ participation in a variety of physical activities, they will develop constructive personal / social characteristics like teambuilding, fair play and good sportsmanship. They will also help students to build up their health-related abilities: physical strength, perseverance, cardio-respiratory strength, alertness, movement co-ordination and balance. A healthy body will develop a health mind.
The Health Education covers the three dimensions: Physical Health, Environmental and your Health, and Emotional and Psychological Health. It teaches students good eating habits, importance of exercise and sleep, taking care of eyes, ears, nose and teeth, some road safety rules, how to prevent germs from spreading diseases, manage their emotions and deal with bullying and teasing. -

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is now part of the educational experience worldwide and regarded as a new ‘literacy’ alongside reading, writing and numeracy.

In each lesson illustrations of the Bengali culture and customs will be presented, to provide the distinct lifestyle and diverse experiences.

Students will be able to understand and use everyday Filipino expressions, phrases and sentences. Students will also develop an appreciation of the Filipino language and culture.

This subject aims to help students develop and practice their skills at an early stage. The Cambridge Primary Global perspectives is made up of 6 challenges a year, which teachers could integrate into their existing lessons. Each challenge is sub-divided into a range of activities and covers a range of skills. The students are taught through a wide range of topics using personal, local and global perspectives. Teachers help students to look at a variety of global issues or topics that give a range of contexts.

This subject explores 5 content areas: number, geometry, measure, handling data and problem solving. This curriculum focuses on principles, patterns, systems, functions and relationships so that learners can apply mathematical knowledge and develop a holistic understanding at upper primary level. Learners are expected to present and interpret information on written, graphical, diagrammatic and tabular forms and use mathematical concepts learnt to solve problems.

This subject aims to help students develop a healthy mind through a healthy body. Students will learn to appreciate the significance and advantages of physical activities through games and sports. They will also help students to build up their health-related abilities: physical strength, perseverance, cardio-respiratory strength, alertness, movement co-ordination and balance.
This subject covers the three dimensions of Health Education: Physical Health, Environmental and your Health, and Emotional and Psychological Health.
