DIMENSIONS’ Bukit Timah Campus, which houses our School of Hospitality, was set up in March 2009 in line with the growth of a thriving service industry that demands for competent labour at different levels. The campus is equipped with 6 training facilities, which were built to replicate real life setups, and are used for practical training for Gaming Management, and operations of Bar, Restaurants, Kitchen, Front Desk and Hotel Room. Other facilities include an auditorium, a computer lab, a multi-function hall, a canteen and badminton courts. The Bukit Timah Campus is one out of three campuses of DIMENSIONS International College.

Our Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Services course is designs to train and develop students’ hospitality knowledge, vocational skills and mind-set needed to serve customers and to enhance their employability in related field. Upon completion, successful students should have developed the understanding of the essential components of hotel and restaurant operations.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded the Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Services by DIMENSIONS International College.

Note 4: Students who do not require ICA’s student’s pass must achieve at least 80% attendance rate. Our College only accept medical certificates as proof for absenteeism.Any other documents should only be accepted on a case-by-case basis with full justification and be acceptable by ICA.

Course Structure

This course consists of 18 modules with sequence set by the Scheme of Work

The programme consists of two components:

  • Theory and practical class lessons conducted at DIMENSIONS International College
    (6 months).
  • Industrial Attachment (IA)*, students will be trained at hotels, resorts, country clubs or restaurants and write a project report (6 months) – optional.

*Students must satisfy the following pre-qualifying requirements prior to school’s arrangement for their IA posting:

A) Complete and pass the practical and theory assessments of your Course
B) Achieve at least 90% attendance rate
C) Pass the Interview Screening Test comprising of:

  • Technical Test
  • Performance Test

Note:

IA posting is not guaranteed and will be subject to approval of relevant passes by Ministry of Manpower (MOM). No further IA posting will be arranged if a student withdraws or is terminated from the IA centre.

DIMENSIONS has the right to cancel a class/an intake if the minimum number of students enrolled is less than 10 for any programme per class. Students may enroll into a later intake, if any, or withdraw from course. (For refund, please refer to our refund policy)

*In the first week of studies, an induction session will be conducted. The students will be briefed by the Academic Staff on full details of the course including scheme of work, timetable, assessments and grading, assessment and exam dates and venue and many other academic matters.

Note 1:  All miscellaneous fees are inclusive of 7% GST.
Note 2: DIMENSIONS shall provide all students aged 7 and above the required medical insurance coverage on hospitalisation and related medical treatment for the entire course duration. A Singapore Citizen/PR or a non- student’s pass international student who is protected by his/her own medical insurance coverage in Singapore can opt out from the medical insurance scheme with a proof of valid Medical Insurance Plan given to DIMENSIONS.
Note 3: Total course fees paid (except application fee and GST) by students are protected under the Fee Protection Scheme (FPS).
Note 4: All students must sign the Advisory Note to Student before signing the Standard PEI-Student Contract.
Note 5:  The Standard PEI-Student Contract must be signed by the student prior to making course fees payments to DIMENSIONS.
Note 6: The course fees shown above are effective 1st April 2014 and valid till 31st December 2014. DIMENSIONS reserves the right to make amendment to the course fees without prior notice as and when it deem necessary.

Duration

The course duration is 6 months Institutional Training and 6 months Industrial Attachment – Optional (Total 12 months)

Maximum allowed period for a student to complete the course is 12 months of Institutional Training excluding Industrial Attachment (IA) period.

Entry Requirements

Age: At least 16 years old.

Academic Level: Junior Middle 3 or Secondary 3 or its equivalent.

English Proficiency: At least IELTS 4.5 or CAE Level 3 or pass the English Proficiency Test at equivalent level conducted by DIMENSIONS. (For students from India and the Philippines, pass the English subject at the 9th year of formal education)

Assessment Grading Criteria

Theory Component

  • A : (80 marks and above)
  • B : (70 – 79 marks)
  • C : (60 – 69 marks)
  • D : (50 – 59 marks)
  • F : Fail (49 marks and below)

Practical Component (Portfolio)

  • P : Pass
  • F : Fail

Assessment Weighting

Teachers Qualifications

  • All teachers are registered with the Council for Private Education (CPE). All teachers have the required qualifications with 5 years of experience or higher level of qualifications. Please refer to faculty member lists in the website for the detailed qualifications of teachers.
  • Average Teacher-Student ratio is 1:35
    Note: The number of students in the classroom is subjected to the maximum allowable seating capacity.
